Forest Stewart talked of his ac
tivities with the legislature and gave
members of chapter 21 a first hand
insight as to how proposed and passed
legislation w ill affect state employes.
The executive council met on June
27 and discussed plans for the remain
der of the year. Lena Anderson was
appointed to fill in the remainder of
Mabie M cGee’s term as treasurer.
A picnic was held June 15 at Para
dise Island, with a large group at
tending.
Marion Chapter No. 18
Chapter No. 18 has had ■ two very
successful meetings since our last pub
lication.
May 4, the members of the chap
ter enjoyed an evening at the “ Mad
House Theatre.” There was standing
room only at the Women’s Club. We
are sorry that some were turned away
because there was not enough room.
Some forty of our members presented
an eleven-act variety show. Mr- Lock-
hard built a very clever stage. The
show was planned and produced by
Mr. Hutchinson and Mr. Lockhard.
On June 4 at our next meeting we
had a very fast game of Bingo with
everyone winning prizes. The business
meeting was a thorough discussion of
ways to obtain new members and
means of re-instating dropped mem
bers.
Capitol Chapter No. 19
The last meeting for the summer of
Chapter 19 was held in May at the
Salem Women’s club. Ed Zahara, pre
sident, was the presiding officer. Mar
jorie was acting secretary for Mabel
Marquiss.

The chapter voted to discontinue
their meetings for the summer and to
begin again the third Tuesday in Sep
tember.
“ The Pot of Gold” winners were not
present, therefore the money w ill be

Salem Chapter No. 1
. Salem chapter No. 1 held its annual
pot luck dinner and entertainment
for members, their husbands, wives

hall. The refreshment committee was
under the able direction of Alice
Schmidt.

State Prison Chapter No. 56
Prison chapter is a year old and was
organized with 104 charter members.
The chapter has held its rr^^^S-m p
despite losses in personnel. Meetings
have been held every month with »e S
extra meeting in May. Meetings have
been well attended with good pro
grams presented including speakers,
movies and covered dish dinners.
Final event of the year for the chap
ter was the first annual picnic on
July 11 at the State Memorial park
at Wheatland. There were prizes for
the children. Nomination of new of
ficers took place with voting and in
stallation to be held in August.
