The second annual^ district No. 2
picnic* was held at Champoeg State
P ark on August 6, w ith approxim ate­
ly 2,000 state emp^fd^esi and g u ellf
present.
Under the able leadership of Rob­
ert
district director w ith
the assistance of R o ^ W s . Ratcliffe,
president of M arion chapter No. 18,
as general chairm an, the close coor­
dination of the sixteen chapters'" pf the
district was accom plished to such a
degree th at "the entertainment* re ­
freshm ents and ground arrangem ents
w ent off w ithout a hitch.

planning of such a large affair was]
m ade up from all the 16 chapter pres­
idents ;and Iffm e d f the chapter ^ice-
presidents. It is estim ated th at about

Lunch hour was from 12:00 noon
to 1:30 P.M. The district furnished 60
gallons of coffee, 90 cases of soft
drinks and 150 dozen, ice cream bars
to all who attended the no-host picnic
luncheon.

to everyone attending to help get
acquainted a n d ^ ^ ^ ^ M a t e in the
draw ing for prizes, w hich varied
from $10.00 in cash for the lucky
num ber to 5 gallons of gas to the
m em ber traveling th e fw K e st.
The h i j ^ p f h t . of th e afternoon was
the entertain m en t provided by OSEA
m em bers for th eir chapter. The wide

and together w ith the especially built
stage and capable emcee, M arv Byers,
the picnickers w ere given a ra re
treat.; -

The district director, general chair­
m an, headquarters staff, committee
chairm an and Mr. H arry Confer, park
supervisor, deserve high praise for
tfr jg in e a r ty cooperation in m aking
this annual event one to be rem em ­
bered. The OSEA m em bers can do
things when called upon. C ongratula­
tions to all participants; of D istrict
No. 2 for presenting such a success­
ful event.
