the board of directors as far as possible
use every effort to see that this is accom­
plished. The motion carried.
Motion was made that the general coun­
cil go on record as favoring Mr. White’s
recommendation for unemployment com­
pensation as stated in his message and the
incoming board of directors make a study
of it. The motion carried.
It was suggested that the council go on
record as supporting a certain person for
the position which will become vacant on
the retirement board. Tom Edwards stated
that now was not the time to make recom­
mendations as association would receive un­
favorable publicity and moved that the
board of directors be instructed to agree
on a candidate and present his name to the
governor for appointment at the proper
time. The motion carried.
It was moved that the board of directors
study the possibility of setting up some
kind of grievance organization. The motion
carried.
The chairman of the credentials com­
mittee made a final report: Officers and
directors, 12 present and 1 was absent on
account of illness; district directors elect,
all present and 1 alternate; delegates and
proxies, 54. Only 2 chapters out of the 48
were not represented, which were Co­
quille and Adair Village. Nineteen guests
were alternates or members of some chap­
ter. Total attendance 92.
An invitation was extended by Portland
Chapter No. 17 to hold meeting there again
next year.
It was moved that the council express
sincere appreciation to the Portland chap­
ter for the refreshments that were served.
The motion carried.
Motion was made that council confer
honorary membership upon Ray Smith,
Eleanor Stevens and Robert McClain. It
was also extended to Charles Reynolds.
Motion carried.
After a discussion as to where the next
meeting would be held a motion was made
that the next general council meeting be
held in Salem. The motion carried.
There being no further new business the
officers were duly installed.
A motion was made that the meeting
adjourn. The motion carried and the gen­
eral council adjourned at 4:00 p. m.
