Hazards; Motorists
Urged to Heed Laws

There is a new one on the books,

affects the safety of some 80,000 O re­
gon school youngsters who rely on bus
tran sp o rtatio n ' to get to school. It
calls for the form ation of a new d riv-
ing hab it on the „part of^all: m otorists!

feet since last spring, a rem inder now
is tim ely. Thpv reopening of schools
showed th a t enrollm ents everyw here
are expanding and th ere is every in ­
dication they will continue to expand

tran sp o rtatio n an essential fe atu re of
our public education facilities.
There have been num erous in s ta n c ^

s t r u c k g the roadway be-
fore boarding or after leaving a school
bus. H ad the present law been in ef<
feet, m any of these tragedies $%>uld
have been avoided. W ith m ore buses
carrying m ore pupils for g re ater dis-
