Ski season at Mary’s Peak in Siuslaw
national forest, 24 miles west of Cor
vallis, ten miles off state highway 34
by forest road, carries on from January
through March. A small public shelter
is available, along with an observatory.
A portable rope tow, 450 feet in length
with a 60 foot rise, is operated by the
Helenski ski club of Corvallis. Parking
-space provides for 250 cars.
Blue Mountain ski club from Novem
ber through April operates three rope
tows, from 400 to 1000 feet in length
and rises from 50 to 350 feet, at Toll-
gate in Umatilla national forest on state
highway 204 at Spout Springs moun
tain near Pendleton. A warming hut,
ski rentals, meals and ski instruction
are available. Parking space can handle
300 cars. ,
A portable ski tow is in use from
time to time at the Wbitebrancb and
Hand Lake areas in Willamette national
fo ^ s t near McKenzie Pass on U.S. high
way 28. A public shelter is provided.
Two rope tows, 500 and 250 feet
long, respectively, with rises of 100 feet
and 50 feet, are in operation from De
cember through April at Willamette
Passion state highway 5 8 in Willamette
national forest ait the summit of the
‘Qascade mountains. A lunch counter,
a small shelter, first aid room and park-
