Mr. O’Neil made a motion that in-
as much'-'as the board of directors, was
instructed by the general council to
take up wages and hours and discuss
them with the highway commission,
that it be done at the earliest possible
»pportunity. Motion carried.
Resolution regarding vacation time
to be figured on basis of one working
day for each month. Mr. Stewart re­
ported that nothing had been started
on this so far.
Mr. O’Neil said he did Pot know
whether anything could be gained by
stirring this matter up now. He moved
that action regarding this matter be
deferred until a more opportune time
and that hours and wages be stressed
at present. Motion carried and action
on the resolution of Salem Chapter No.
lw a s deferred.
Resolution from Astoria Chapter No.
8 relating to foremen and helpers re­
ceiving overtime pay for emergency
duty outside working hours.
Mr. Query made a motion that this
'resolution be referred to the legal coun­
sel for study and report back to the
board of directors. Motion carried.
Resolution of Mr. Cameron to re­
quest state to raise per diem and mileage
allowance to meet present costs.
Mr. Query recommended that the
board of directors present a statement
of the resolution to the board of con­
trol recommending $8.00 per diem in­
stead of $6.75.
R. M. Smith stated that according
to the Civil Service Commission they
are supposed to say how much is to be
allowed to state employees. We will
find irregularities between departments,
but the civil service is supposed to
straighten them out. Suggested that
Mr. Query’s recommendation say "to
the Board of Control or the Civil Serv­
ice Commission.”
Mr. Query withdrew his original mo­
tion and made another stating that the
resolution be presented to Board of
Control or Civil Service Commission,
whichever is applicable, and that the
