1 State employees through the Ore
gon State Employees Association have
[gained th e . confidence of the people of
[Oregon and we have thé respect of
State officials. We are dedicated to
[promote efficiency and ( harmony in
State Government and we are doing
our job well. You have selected me fits
your leader for the Comirig year. I arç-
tcept the responsibility and I consider
it an honor to serve you.
1 My immediate message to the assem-
bled delegates following the installâ-
tion ceremony was as follows: -
" It is with deep appreciation that I
accept the honor of serving you for
the coming, year. I realise the respon
sibility placed upon ’me, and I will put
forth my best efforts to uphold the
[trust that yop have placed in me. My
administration will be dedicated to the
task of securing equal rights for J all
State employees, as I regard the action
of thi's council meeting as a mandate
Ito accomplish that purpose. These as I
see them are:
"1. To secure for all State employees
the best salaries and wages possible.
"2. To secure the same privileges
for hourly, daily and weekly employees
las those now enjoyed by employees who
are on a monthly salary.
i "3. To work diligently at the task
of increasing the membership of our
¡association, In doing this I shall look
upon each district director as an execu
tive vice president or manager of his

or her respective district, and I shall
call upon each of you to cooperate
fully, and with the further help of all
membership we cannot fail.
I | "4. I propose to furnish each local
chapter with definite information Re
garding what action is taken by the
council of board of directors on the
resolutions that are submitted by each
chapter.
"You have chosen wisely in selecting
the other members of your board of
directors, and I feel confident,, there
fore, that the coming year will be a
successful one.”
