part in approaching department heads
and administrative officers.
Meeting adjourned at 2:00 P.M., un
til 4:30 P.M., to allow committees to
meet and take care of their business.
Meeting reconvened at 4:30 P.M.
Mr. Vanette, representative of the
West Coast Life Insurance Company,
discussed the insurance plan recently
placed in force for the members of
the Association.
I "Most of you know the Employees’
Association group insurance plan is in
force. We put it in force and started
off in wonderful shape. We contacted
the majority of the chapters. It is true
in most cases we did not get a large
turnout, but a representative turnout.
We explained the insurance and that
we would cooperate in forwarding the
plan which would not only help the
•employees of the state but benefit the
Association as well. We mailed out all
the infpfipatidn booklets explaining the
plan and 1 these booklets should have
been received; by all members in accord
ance with the list from the office of
the Executive Secretary.
"Today there are, about, six or seven
chapters that/ have qualified for the
insurance. There are a good many
chapters which are on the verge of’r
qualifying, but have not as' yet. As
you know we have required 75 per
cent participation to make the insur-
ance effective. Since that time it is my
information that there have been three
deaths of members who had signed up
but whose chapters had not q u a lifil
That is bad from your standpoint a il
from my standpoint. Therefore, ¡el
have, asked the Association "Why it I
that all of a sudden the group insum
ance plan, has come to a standstill?^
Explanations are that secretaries (
chapters in some cases have nbt g iv l
us complete cooperation. Another p o il
is.that we as a carrier, while we plat I
ned to put men into the field to c o l
tact each employee, we were under tr
impression that we could contact p e l
pie during work hours on the job. Y I
