GROUP PURCHASING
The Association has had many re
quests from the membership concerning
discount -purchasing. ,
We have made several contacts w ith
firms operating on a state-wide basis
and have had but one offer.
The General Tire Company, through
its Salem dealer has agreed to sell tires,
batteries, home appliances ,auto acces
sories, etc.; to members of the Associa
tion at a substantial discount.
/If the idea is adopted, credit cafds
will be issued by the Company to the
members. ,
The Association is under no obliga
tio n to the Company.
' Adoption of this plan,'would be an
added service to the membership.
RECOM MENDATIONS
Keeping up the interest of th e m em
bership has been a problem. A possible
solution would be ; a news letter mailed
onee a month to each member., This
would require an Address-o-graph m a
chine. The cost is low, but 1J fully | | | |
lieve it would be money well spent.
I I would also recommend breaking
up our large chapters into smaller,
homogeneous groups. By doing this, it
would allow more people to participate
in Association activities, and give Some
of the minority groups a better oppor
tunity to be heard; it I should increase
membership and interest. The move
ment is already under way in Portland
Chapter Np.-;^7,p^
The D istrict Directors should be
called, upon to play a larger part in
promoting O.S.E.A, w ithin their dis
tricts,, ,
In conclusion I would say that the
O.S.E.A. has had a successful year.
W orking conditions have been great
ly improved ¡for the great majority of
State , employees.
Our legislative program was success
ful; wc lost but one im portant meas
ure, but saved Civil Service, .
W e/haye issued charters to six new
chapters since November, 1946.
Respectfully submitted,
