OGIST FO R T R A IN IN G SCHOOL
The state board of control has voted
to add a psychologist to the state train
ing school for boys at Woodburn, but
deferred action on a proposal to es
tablish an educational program at the
state penitentiary*
William G. Bolander, 42, Eugene, a
University of Oregon psychology grad
uate, was appointed psychologist for
the Woodburn school at $240 a month
to aid in boys’ rehabilitation.
Prison Warden George Alexander
asked approval of the proposed educa
tional program for the prison in the
belief it would aid in rehabilitation as
well as prepare convicts for jobs on
their release from prison. Action on this
proposal was deferred.
S fA X E PAY COMPARED
(Continued from page 19)
The Association will persist in its
policy to press for fair treatm ent for
all state employees. We are anxious
to succeed in our efforts to bring and
maintain the high quality of public
service that fair treatm ent of the em
ployees will insure. The results of our
pay | study and other facts pertaining
to the disparity of state pay schedules
are being brought to the attention of
the Civil Service Commission.
Nothing more completely baffles one
who is full of trick and duplicity, than
straightforward and simple integrity.

A request by mechanical and cler
ical employees of state institutions that
they be given a 40-hour work week, in
stead of the present 44 hours, was de
ferred to. the emergency board, which
would haye to provide extra funds,
since the proposal was estimated at
$23,00-0 annually. The employees con
tend they should be given the same 40-
hour week as other state workers.—
