nia and Washington and both of these
states have the sales tax. Both of these
states have secured large industries; at
the expense of Oregon and the prop
erty tax is much less than in Oregon.
We believe that everyone who enjoyf*
the privilege o f living in the beautiful
state of Oregon should pay his just
share of the ‘cost of' our state govern
ment* We are amazed at the action of
Morton Tompkins, state Grange masQ-
ter, who is making a personal attack
on the proposed sales tax, It is our film
conviction that some of the statements
made by him will be hard' to prove, for
instance, he, says, 'It will not produce
a dime of revenue- for schools, cifies?
counties or public welfare.’ ” !
