northwest, including visits to Seattle
and Vancouver, B. C. How was the
drinking water up there, Lee?
Members of Chapter 30 were shock
ed recently when they learned of the'
passing of Clarence Etter, chief of
placements, employment ; service. He
had been a state worker for many
years, and his death is a genuine loss
to his many friends and co-workers.
Sincere condolences are extended to his
wife and family.
Jasper Savage and Clarence Madison,
both claims takers in U. C., retired
July
from state service. Both were
well liked by . claimants and co
workers, and they will both be sin
cerely missed. We wish them the best
of luck in anything they do.
Chapter 30 members wish to take
this opportunity to extend sincere re
grets to H arry Robbins, supervisor of
registrations, whose father passed away
on July 16.
Anne Robel, clerk with the Employ
ment Service, looked like one of those
deep-red lobsters on a recent Monday.
Seems that she likes to spend her spare
time climbing Mt. St. Helens in the
face of the sun. Looks nice on you,
Anne! By the way, on another recent
weekend Anne received a bad "sun
bake” at Manzanita beach, where she
became a heroine by helping save a
friend from disaster in the surf. Con
gratulations, Anne!
Well, well, well! Look at all the
blondes and brunettes! They’re recent
additions to the clerk staff of the un
employment compensation office on
the second floor, S. W. 12th and Stark
streets. They are Margaret McLaughlin,
Bernice Lind, June Hoskinson and E.
Norine Morris. (W hat, no redheads!)
There are also some good-looking male
additions to the staff, girls-. They are
George Richards, Bob Hecker, Stanley
Lindstrom, Richard Keenan, Frank
Bellinger, and Terrence Dolan. Oh, oh!
We can’t get away with this! We
almost failed to mention Bonnie Lou
Alphin, who is also a new member of
the U. C. clerk staff. Pardon, Bon
nie! We’re glad to have you (as well
as the others) with the department.
