EARLY RISING
Some folks think the break of day
Ils. just the time to rise,
They rave of beauty unexcelled
In early ,m orning skies.
They quote that old familiar saw
W hich every one has heard, ,
About the foolish little worm
And energetic bird.
Now I’ll admit I’m quite averse j
To early morning hours,
I do ¿not care for silly worms
Nor dew upori the flowers;
Though sunrise glow may fill the skies
I’d rather stay in bed
And satisfy my artist’s soul
W ith sunset’s brilliant red.
, But since f have to earn my bread
Out in the world of men
I try . to think that six o’clock
Is just as good as’ ten.
And- this I know; that day, will come,
It may be far ahead,
When I’ll not rise at six o’clock
But that day I’ll be dead.

A frog was caught in a deep rut in
a road, ’and in spite of the help of his
friends, he could_not get out. They fi
nally left him there in despair. The next
day, one of his friends saw him, chipper
as you please, and no longer in th e ru t.
"W hat are you doing here?” the
friend asked. "I thought you couldn’t
get out.”
"I couldn’t,’’ ,the frog replied. "But
