Under new legislation,.New York
state employees who work more- than
4 0 ,hours a week will be paid for their
extra time at straight hourly rages haC-
cording to the Civil'Service Assembly/
Institutional employees; who work
overtime will gain most under the new
law. They now work 48 hours a week
though they are paid monthly on the
basis of a 40 hour week. I Henceforth
they will receive equivalent of another
day’s pay for the eight hours overtimed
All other employees who Occasionally
work more than 40 hours a week will
be compensated either in time off or
straight overtime pay for excess work
hours. Appropriations of approximately
$ 11 million were made by . the recent
legislature for overtime compensation.
