only. A very good show was given by
the Journal Juniors—rsinging, dancing
and accordian music. . After the pro­
gram, the floor was cleared for dancing.

Skinner was in Astoria, looking over
work to be done here this summer. He
contemplates reversing the usual plan,
by starting on the Columbia Highway

ASTORIA CHAPTER No. 8
George Bambrick, spent’ three weeks
in St. Mary’s hospital. George had the
flu, with complications. We think per­
haps the nice looking nurse helped per­
suade'George to stay, without too, much
fuss.
George Perkins spent a couple of
weeks in Columbia hospital. George had
gasco poisoning. Being in the hospital
caused him to miss the last meeting of
OSEA, which was the first meeting
held without George since beginning of
OSEA. That is a record few can boast,
Astoria maintenance crew has been
busy sanding bleeding roads. Last year
non-skid that was put on, with thin
gasco practiéally ran off thè highway,
and everyone had to haul rock to. cover
up the stuff. It takes about 50 yards
of rock a day to do the job. Maybe the
sun won’t always be so hot.
Clarence Asher, Astoria drawbridge
superintendent, had the pleasure of
opening the latest drawbridge taken
over by the state on the Warrenton
highway, It is necessary to load this
bridge' on barge at low tide, and float
PORTLAND CHAPTER No. 17
The joint meeting of Ròse City chap­
ter and Chapter No. 17, held in March,
was most enjoyable. The two older
