A motion was adopted that the Board
of Directors re-present the resolution
recommending a 40-hour, 5 day week,
for state service and that Mr. Stewart
appear before the Board of Control and
department heads in behalf of this re­
quest.
Mr. Stewart informed the members
that letters bestowing honorary mem­
berships to persons selected by the Gen­
eral Council, were in the process of
preparation.
The three-step pay range for hourly
employees was discussed, and it was the
opinion of those present that the plan
now in operation be studied and that
further action be deferred for six.
months.
Motion was adopted that the salaries
of Forrest V. Stewart and th a t\o f, his
Secretary Jean Brimacombe be raised
effectivelMaich 1, 1947.
The resolution adopted by the Gen­
eral Council recommending support for;
an equitable tax measure was discussed»
and it was the thought of those present
that we should support in every way
possible the Sales Tax recommended by
the Legislature» A program of publicity
was outlined for the purpose of ac­
quainting the chapter; members and
other state employees with the proposed
tax.measure and to solicit their support
at the forthcoming election.
