Clyde Gilmore was reported stand­
ing on a high hump on the edge of
the Sherman County bad lands look­
ing intently to the west. He must
have been trying to out-guess the
weather man.
Frank Forbes and company are
chomping at the bit, thinking about
firing up the old oil kettle.
Jimmy Robertson and Flank Wilson
have come in out of the Shaniko waste
lands. Both are looking well.
The D ufùr crew put in à short ses­
sion getting the foundation ready for
th e . new maintenance shed. Dejoode
and crew dropped anchor and assembled
the building.
Johnny Kirgel, office man '’Deluxe,”
—floor polishing a specialty. Lynn
Koons is doing his shaving at the of­
fice these days, as his mirrors at home
are weak ip comparison with Johnny’s
floors. ,
Loyd (Funny) ^Taylor and his shovel
put in a hitch at Rufus on slides for
McClain.
Ernie Johnston and his gang have
been building shoulders and blading,
east of The Dalles. Good looking job,
Ernie.
Pink Andrews and his fishermen
have been seen practicing casting. It is
reported they have taken to mumbling
in their sleep—must-be something they
•"et.”
Col. Peck and his chain draggers and
stake drivers have had a busy time this
winter keeping pickets ahead of the
contractor on the Shearer’s, Bridget
Section.
We understand that Paul Stdutt is
quite afisherm anin his own right. For,

by. Last winter he was playing around
on a pair of barrel staves and ran his
head into a manzanita bush—broken
glasses, skinned nose, and a black
eye. This winter* as he was imitating
a flying squirrel on the slopes of Mt.
Hood, he made a barrel roll and now
has one leg in a plaster cast.

COQUILLE CHAPTER N o . 10
The January meeting of Coquille
Chapter No. 10 was held in Port Or­
ford, with a fair attendance. Two
carloads attended from Coquille and
one from Bandon.
Our new president, Leroy Tucker;
and new secretary, Frank McChjre;
got off to a good start for 1947. Mr.
Tucker is an employee at the State
Trout Hatchery at Bandon and Mr.
McClure is office assistant; to W. G.
Krueger of the bridge department.
One new member was taken in from
the Coquille maintenance crew—Edgar
Gould. However, by the time this item
is printed he will have, left state em­
ployment due to the low pay scale.
Port Orford members served thè
refreshments, whick were enjoyed by
all present.
Our February meeting was held ip
Coquille, with à very good attendance.
