the able leadership of President "Ike”
Southwick, we are very much alive, and
expect to make ourselves heard.
We hâve had two enthusiastic meet
ings; one in November at which time
there were approximately twenty-five
members preserit, and one in December
at which there were more than fifty
present. A t our December meeting we
uncovered Considerable musical talent
and were ably-entertained by Bud Malin
with some of his, famous Swede dialect
stories. A t our November meeting a
complete new set of: by-laws was adopt
ed and President "Ike’’ can expect to;
be called to task if he does not follow
them explicitly. We have sévirai par-
limentarians who are always looking for
a chance to correct thé presiding of
ficer. I
At our December meeting, Mr. L. R.
White, secretary-treasurer of the State
organization, gave us an able resume
and interpretation of proposed changes
in the laws and acts governing.-State
employees.
’ As a stimulus to attendance, we havé :
instituted the drawing of a jack-pot
at each meeting and up to date there
have beenno winners. A t our meeting
to be held January 14, the drawing
will continue until a winner is pulled
out of the hat. It is expected that ap-
proximately $10.00 will be in the jack
pot, one-half of which will go to the
member jwhose lucky number is pulled
out of the hat andone-half to our
entertainment fund.
We suggest that after you have read"
this issue,-of the magazine you pass it
on to a non-member of the State Em
ployees’ Association and accompany it
with a sales talk-as to why they should
also belong; I
