CAREFUL DRIVERS
Officers Meeting in Salem
Beginning January 9th, and on the
second Thursday of ¿each month there­
after, the Association officers living
in Salem and the presidents of the eleven
Salem chapters, will hold a regular
monthly meeting. It is hoped that such
meetings will serve, as a clearing house
for new ideas, and also stimulate ac­
tivity among chapters.
40-Hour Work W eek
The hearing on the 40 hour, 5 day
work week before the Board of Con­
trol was attended by about twelve rep­
resentatives o f labor, both, À. F. o f L.
and C. I. O. Your executive secretary
presented the views of the Association.
The latter was,seen having coffee with
sonie of the group j ^ t e r the hearing
which probably accounts, for the ru­
mors that O. S. E. A. is still affiliated
with a labor organization—no need to
say that such is far from the truth.
The Board of Control has not yet
made any announcement concerning
its decision on the 40 hour, 5 day work
week requested.
The resolutions concerning^ Civil;
Service, passed at the General Council
meeting, were presented to the Civil
Service Commission at their regular De­
cember meeting, No action has been
taken by the Commission at this daté. ?
Considering the great amount of work ,
awaiting consideration by this Com­
mission, it may be some time before we
hear from them.
