the sick list for the past two weeks, but
is now back on the job.

Stubby Walston had a bout w ith the
army. A fter a fast trip to Fort Lewis
and a couple of shots for fallen arches
and hang nails, he was sent home. Hope
they don’t bother him again.
D ufur crew has "yea olde oil pottee”
back and they are doing some fancy
squirting.
Gordon Wetherbee put on a one man
rodeo at the auction yards October 12.
He must have been out of practice—
the calf won out.
Louis Kerber and Chuck Hedrick
were here for a short visit. Kerber’s
plant set up at Hood River and H e
drick’s at The Dalles.
Forrest Stewart met w ith us October
IS and reported on civil service pro
gress. Chuck Hedrick and several of
his crew also attended. For refresh
ments, doughnuts and coffee were
served, but through the courtesy of
Mrs. Stratton, Forrest had baked beans.

N EW PORT CHAPTER No. 11
Newport Chapter No. 11 met at the
City Hall Thursday, September 19,
w ith 12 members and 17 visitors pres
ent—-Eddyville, Waldport and Newport
being represented.
A discussion oh the resolution passed
by Albany Chapter to hire an organizer
to secure new members was held. We
voted to send $1.00 per member for his
salary.
The retirement and civil service plans
were discussed. Members voted to hold
a special meeting September 27 and in
vite Forrest Stewart to explain same
to us.
A fter the meeting, members retired
to Bay Way Cafe for refreshments.
Floyd Starkey’s paving crew No. 2,
and Brownie Bangart’s Bridge Crew,
have been in our vicinity for some time.
PORTLAND CHAPTER No. 17
Despite the inclement weather, a
large number of members attended the
first fall meeting, held October 29.
Announcement was made that Mr.
Edward R. Murphy, employee of the
