ment?
A. None other than the member
must be under the voluntary service re­
tirement age.
22. Q. Does State service rendered
before the Retirement System starts in
July 1, 1946 count as part of the re­
quired five or fifteen years?
A. Yes. However, an employee must
be a member and no one can become a
member until after July 1, 1946.
23. Q. If I should recover after re­
tirement for disability to such an ex­
tent that I could again perform my
duties, could I reenter State service?
, A. If in the opinion of the Board
and competent medical opinion the dis­
ability has been removed, the retire­
ment allowance is stopped and the
member shall be reinstated and his in­
dividual account credited with the
amount which stands to his credit in his
account at the time of his retirement
for disability.
24. Q. If I had more than five
years of State service and was injured
while at work to such a degree that I
am incapacitated, could I receive a re­
tirement allowance and also receive
benefit under the Workmen’s Compen­
sation Law because I was injured on
duty?
A. No. The amount received from
the Industrial Accident Commission
would be deducted from your disability
retirement allowance.
25. Q. When the employee has re­
tired for disability, are further medical
examinations necessary?
A. The Board has the right at any
time to have the member re-examined
to determine whether the disability still
exists.
26. Q. Are any benefits payable in
case of sickness of a member, or in case
a member sustains an accident while
not on duty?
A. Yes, if the sickness or accident
should result in disability and if the
member qualifies by having fifteen
years of service. No disability retire­
ment allowance can be paid for the
first 90-day period of such incapacity.
