City Chapter No. 5 requesting better
protection for workmen on the high
ways.
The committee recommended that

The Dalles Chapter No. 9 submitted
a resolution requesting improved work
ing hours and conditions for the Ore
gon State Police who work nine hours a
day, six days a week, plus a half hour
or an hour writing their daily reports,
and who are required ,to work all legal
holidays and all overtime without com
pensation or time off in exchange and
who under a department ruling are
barred from joining or belonging to any
organization or association that would
bring these conditions to the notice of
the public or any officials, that would
help rectify these conditions.
The committee recommended that
this resolution be referred to the Board
of Directors for investigation. Report
adopted.
Mr. Leary stated that he felt more
publicity should be given so that more
members visit the next year’s Council
meetings.
Mr. DeFrance read the duties of the
officers as described in the Constitution
and By-Laws. Mr. Cooper presented the
report of the nominating committee and
the election of officers followed.

Rogers and Clymer. Mr. Clymer de-

the vote was Query 22 and Rogers 10.
Mr. Query was declared elected Presi
dent.
Nominated for Vice-President: Kil-
ian, Smith and Laws: Result of the vote
was Kilian 7, Smith 1$, and Laws 10.
Since a majority vote must be cast for
election of officers the vote was recast
for Smith and Laws. Mr. Smith received
17 votes and Mr. Laws 15. Mr. Smith
was declared elected to the position of
Vice-President.
Nominated for Secretary-Treasurer:
White, Clymer and Rogers. Mr. White
received 15 votes, Clymer 4, and Rogers
13. Ballots were cast for White and
Rogers. Mr. White received 14 and Mr.
Rogers 17. Mr. Rogers Was declared
elected Secretary-Treasurer.
Nominated for Director of Civil
Service: Erickson, Clymer, Patterson,
Kilian. Erickson received 20 votes, Cly
mer 5, Patterson 6, Kilian 1. Mr. Erick
son was declared elected Director of
Civil Service.
Nominated for Director of Law and
Legislation: Patterson, Clymer, Johns.
