CALIFORNIA PROGRAM
In addition to personal service, the
California State Employees Association
carries on a relentless campaign for the
betterment of all employees in state
service. Listed below are the highlights
of the California State Employees Asso
ciation’s 1946 program:
1. Establishment of a 40-hour, five-
day week in all departments.
2. Liberalization of the retirement
allowances.
3. Study and develop adequate vet
eran protection.
4. Inclusion of all employees in civil
service.
5. Improvement of group life, med
ical, surgical, and hospitalization in
surance.
6. Establishment of a salary deduc
tion plan for University employees.
7. Development of a fixed formula
for" the retirement act.
8. Adjust all salaries to meet living
costs.
9. Expansion of legislative, personal,
and statistical services.
Dues in the California State Em
ployees Association are $6.00 a year.
LEGISLATURES VOTE PAY RAISES
The following was taken from the
News Bulletin of Public Administration
Clearing House.
Salaries of government officials and
employees-:—state, county or city—may
be raised in 18 states as the. result of
recent action by state legislatures, the
Civil Service Assembly reports.
General pay raises for state employees
are authorized in California, Minnesota
and Illiuois. In addition, California and
New Mexico voted general salary raises
for state officials.
Salary increases have been granted
to the majority of California state em
ployees and officials under legislative
bills either signed or awaiting signature
by the governor.
