last week. T raffic was held up for
awhile but diligent work on the part
of the maintenance crews soon got the
traveling public on its way again.
TILLAMOOK CHAPTER No. 15
A t our December meeting election
of officers was held. We voted to
change our meeting night from the
third Friday to the second Friday of
the month. We had quite a large turn
out, with Nehalem, Brighton and Til
lamook being represented. We miss the
members from H!ebo and hope they
will attend meetings soon. A fter our
business meeting coffee and cake was
served. All had a very enjoyable eve
ning.
CAPITOL CHAPTER No. 19
Chapter No. 19 appears headed for
another fine year with James H. Turn-
bull elected President and C. V. Rich
ardson, Vice President. Garland Hollo
well continues as Secretary-Treasurer.
We know these men are capable,
through watching them perform in
other organizations, but they will have
to step to come up to the mark set
by the departing officers. The Chapter
is especially indebted to the retiring
President, Paul Gemmell, for his devo
tion and sacrifices in nursing it through
its formative stages into the strong or
ganization it has now become.
A grand Christmas party was staged,
at the Womans Club on December 20
in conjunction with the PUC Chapter.
A group picture of this event is shown
on another page. We can’t resist mak
ing the observation that if those fam
ous old Roman Eaters looked up from
hell or down from heaven upon the
bounteous supply of roast turkey and
hot rolls, they must have had vagrant
thoughts of going A.W.O.L.
RO UND UP CHAPTER No. 24
The fact that no news items from
the Round Up Chapter No. 24 has not
been sent in to the editor of the
O.S.E.A., is not an indication that this
chapter has hibernated with the gophers
but just that all our writers have been
too busy to get it done.
A fter a summer recess the first meet
ing of the fall and winter season was
held at the Lett Little Theatre in Pen
dleton on September 5 th. A fter a busi
ness meeting two reels of movies were
shown which were enjoyed by all pres
ent.
The meeting in October was post
poned a week so that our Executive
Secretary, Mr. Forrest Stewart could be
present. A round table discussion was
held after Mr. Stewart had made a short
talk and many of the questions relat
ing to phases of the Civil Service and
Old Age Retirement plan were answer
ed. A fter the business meeting there
were lots of coffee and donuts for
dunking purposes.
The November 7th meeting was held
on the scheduled date with a good
number in attendance. A t this meeting
new officers were elected as follows:
W alter Clerk of the State Hospital,
President; Walter S. Hodge of the State
Highway, Vice President; and Homer
P. Rogers of the State Hospital was
retained as secretary. The meeting
closed w ith the showing of tw o movie
films by C. H . Armstrong, which were
enjoyed even if the sound part of the
film failed to function properly.
Our honorable president, Walter
Clark, had the misfortune to sprain his
ankle and is temporarily disabled. Get
well W alter as our next regular meet
ing is soon and we will need you.
Lloyd O. Yeck was elected as dele
gate to the General Council meeting
held in Salem in February and G. H.
Armstrong was elected as alternate.
Accuracy is the tw in brother of
honesty.
