District Director Forrest Cooper
gave a short resume of the Association’s
history, activities and accomplishments
to date for the benefit of the veterans
and others who have been unable to
attend previous meetings. Needless to
say this was enjoyed by all as such a
record is one to be proud of and the
story never grows old.
We are wishing our new president,
Mr. Jack Vaughn of Redmond and his
staff officers, a successful and pleasant
year and pledge our continued support
and cooperation in administering the
affairs of the Chapter.
After contacting several of the fore
men I was unable to gather any news
worthy of the name, however, there
was one incident that occurred here at
Corvallis during the flood that we con
sider worthy of mention. The water
was high and getting deeper every sec
ond. The section foreman had not taken
his clothes off for three days. On the
third day his little black Spaniel showed
up at the Maintenance headquarters
and walked directly over to her mas
ter. Joe just took one look at her and
remarked: "I guess she got my scent.
I must go home and change my under
wear.”
ALBANY CHAPTER No. 7
This Chapter is holding its regular
monthly meeting in Corvallis this
month to give all State Employees in
this vicinity a chance to attend a meet
ing. It will also give the group from
Albany a little exercise.
KLAMATH FALLS CHAPTER
No. 12
Our culinary experts, Chuck Dough
erty and Don Bailey really outdid
themselves at our last O.S.E.A. meet
ing, January 16th. Boy! What oyster
soup! Oh well—none of us were very
hungry anyway.
By the way, members thinking of
putting on an oyster feed, just write
for Chuck’s cook book, "TIMELY
HINTS A N D SHORT-CUTS IN
SOUP MAKING.”
