OHIO INCREASES BENEFITS
OF RETIREMENT SYSTEM
Increased retirement benefits have
been accorded members of the Ohio
public employees’ retirement system by
recent action of the state legislature.
The revised retirement program includes
a 50 per cent increase in prior service
credits for public service before 1935,
and authorizes retirement after thirty
years of service, providing the member
has reached the age of 55. In addition,
retirement pay is now based upon the
employee’s average salary for the ten
years immediately preceding retirement.
The former basis was the pay received
during the five year period 1930 to
1934 inclusive.
Contributions to the fund are made
by all persons receiving $300 per annum
or less and the rate of employee con
tributions is 5 per cent as of October 1,
1945. The increased contributions are
to be matched by the employing gov
ernmental unit, thereby increasing the
annunity portion of the retirement al
lowance.

not sell it for more than it cost you.
