direction became confused.
Paul W. Nice has recently joined the
Shop crew. Paul was a T /S gt. in the
Army and was discharged at Fort Lo­
gan, Colorado. He served in South Am­
erica, Glad to have you w ith us Paul.
The smell of cigar smoke has been
overpowering lately. Two good reasons
for this however. Silas W. Doane, Bridge
Foreman, was married October 22nd to
Myrtle Schofield of Portland, Maine,
and Peter Altenburg, Mechanic in the
Shops, was recently the father of a
bouncing baby boy. Good luck to both
families from all of us.
ALBANY CHAPTER No. 7
Mr. and Mrs. Nels Peterson have a
new son born October 28 th at the Leb­
anon hospital. Mother and son are do­
ing nicely and Nels appreciates the re­
duction in his income tax. Nels works
under J. Brownie Bangert on the Al­
bany bridge crew.
Charles Thorp bought a new home
in Salem and has quit work to remodel
the house.

Due to the change in the labor situ­
ation all crews in this District have
been materially increased and are now
working at or near capacity.
Quintus Underwood received a mus­
cle injury while working on the Albany
Landscape project and is expected to
be off the job for some time.
Earl Nash, who has been nursing an
Oiling crew in other parts of the State
is now on vacation in California. He
expects to return as foreman of the
Albany Section about November 15 th.
ASTORIA CHAPTER No. 8
C. C. Seeley recently transferred
from The Dalles to Astoria and L. V.
Koons from Astoria to The Dalles. Mr.
Seeley was formerly District Mainten­
ance Superintendent at Astoria and
Mr. Koons at The Dalles.
