Salaries Increased
W ith the expiration June 30 of the
Federal Wartime 4 8-hour Work Week
Pay Act, Congress enacted the 1945
Federal Employees Pay Act which in
creases the basic pay schedules of all
federal employees, effective July 1,
1945.
The new rate is calculated for a
40-hour work week. All work in addi
tion to 40 hours per week is paid on an
overtime basis. The increases adopted
were figured on a graduated scale over
the old rate; 20% on the first $1200
plus 10% on the balance above $1200
up to $4600 with a 5% increase on
portion of salary over $4600.
The following table gives a compar
ison between the old and new rate on
salaries of $1800 to $6000.
