that unless he already owned the hog
he had better delay its acquisition until
suitable provision could be made for its
comfort.
Walter Greene’s oiling crew and
Chuck Hedrick’s patching crew have
moved out of the district and it seems
lonely without them. But the good men
do, lives after them. We’ve heard many
compliments upon the work they did.
James Brown, former time keeper on
W. M. Gibson’s Paving Crew No. 9,
has been transferred to the John Day
Office as officeman. Miss Lois Laugh
lin, who was chosen first for the job
found at the last moment that she
could not accept. Mr. Coffey had in
tended to show Miss Laughlin the ropes
and then take a business trip before
his daughters started to school but when
she informed him she could not take
the position it was too late for Mr.
Brown to take over before Mr. Coffey
left, so the foremen and men were
without Coffey or a Coffey substitute
for a few days.
and a special meeting in Medford, Aug
ust 27 and 28. The purpose of the
meeting was to entertain the employees
of Josephine and Jackson Counties.
Both meetings were well attended
with about 60 members and visitors at
each meeting. Forrest Stewart, our Ex
ecutive Secretary, attended both meet
ings and explained the Civil Service
bill and Pension bill. He also discussed
the aims of the Association and the
things we must work for. At the close
of each meeting, lunch was served to
all present.
