“The Germans we meet on the street
just move out of our way, and we don’t
pay any attention to them except I
always keep my eye on the kids from 8
to 18. You never can tell what they
m ight do. The country around here is
very pretty and is intensely cultivated,
but you don’t see any men in the fields
unless they are very young or very
old.

Word came from Mrs. Loomis in
Eugene recently that Bob is on his way
overseas.
Doug DeCew dropped in to say
“hello” a short time ago. He was passing
through on his way to Montana to visit
the home folks. That was quite a re
union with Bill home too.
Bill DeCew came limping into the
office recently. Was this his way of
proving that he dislocated his knee
when he took that unexpected jump in
Germany: Anyway, he’s almost as good
as new again, and is enjoying a fu r
lough at home in Klamath Falls. He

we hope he is too.
Clive Courier couldn’t pass up the
opportunity to see the old gang when
he was home a few days. H e’s sporting
another stripe now, so here’s our hearti
est congratulations, Clive. He’s a Staff
Sgt. now.
Two of our fellows spent a few
hours together when they were attend
ing the same school at Fort Benjamin
Harrison. Jim Jefferson came in a few
weeks ago and reported seeing Clair
Young there.
Too bad it couldn’t have been a re
union here permanently instead of the
way it was. Perhaps it won’t be long
now, though.
Fred Remington is reported as being
home on leave. He says he’ll be in to
see everyone this week, so . we’ll be
looking for him.
Civil service has been extended to
the road commission employees of
Wayne County, Michigan, along with
a pay increase of ten cents per hour, a
pension plan and classification readjust
ment.
