showing us up a little. Our Association
has already done a good deal for every
employee of the State and can confi
dently promise a continuation of its
good work. It deserves the active sup
port of every one of us.
ROSEBURG .CHAPTER No. 2
A good time was had by all who
attended the annual picnic of the Rose
burg Chapter. Geo. Householder beat
all contenders at pitching horseshoes
and is still champion. Anyone desiring
to take his title away from him should
attend our next picnic.
Mr. J. C. Chapman has been coming
to work the last few mornings rather
sleepy-eyed. It seems that the new ar
rival at their home (a big boy) has
been disturbing his sleep.
A number of our members spent a
very enjoyable and enlightening eve
ning with the Crater Lake Chapter
August 27. Forrest Stewart gave a very
nice talk after which refreshments
were served.
Does anyone know how to catch
fish in the upper Rogue? If so will they
please send their recipe to Geo. Baker?

Silas W. Doane, who recently was
discharged from the service, is back
working for the State as Bridge Fore
man out of La Grande. On his crew
is Don McHugh, also recently dis
charged from the service. Don was in
the hospital at Walla Walla after hav
ing a jeep roll on him. Glad to have
you with us, boys.
Quite a few men in our section of
the State might be interested to know
that the deer seasons opens September
29th. Good luck to all.
The Oiling Crew is in Pendleton at
present and the Paving Crew is in Ba
ker.
We recently had a visit from Mildred
E. Knape, who joined the Marines the
fall of 1944. Mildred worked in Chuck
Hedricks Paving Crew before joining
the service.
Dale Fallow was recently discharged
from the Navy. He is working on a
farm at present. Dale worked at one
time for Ed Chidsey at La Grande.
Marvin Smith, now working for Ed
Chidsey, is a newlywed. He was married
August 5 th to Helen L. Garrison of
