full cooperation of the members we
will win.
The monthly Chapter meeting was
held in the Lounge Room of the Public
Service Building. The attendance was
small in comparison to the number of
members which belong. It was decided
upon that all meetings would be ad
journed until October. Mr. Bryant gave
a report on the new membership. Mr.
Clarence Wagoner, of the Industrial
Accident Commission gave an interest
ing talk why all State employees should
belong to the O.S.E.A.
W. L. (Bill) Campbell of the Motor
Vehicle Division embarked on the Port
land Rose, May 25, for a 10-day stay
in Chicago.
Mr. Dave Bryant, our new chapter
membership chairman has done a grand
job this last month. The numiber of
new members brought in is 57, and we
know that by the time of our next*
meeting the membership will be increas
ed much more. Keep up the grand work
Dave.
The Rose City and Portland Chapters
held a joint dance at the Red Men hall
Saturday night, May 19. There were
many familiar faces from both chapters
present. A fter a Paul Jones feature
everyone became better acquainted and
got into a happy spirit. We plan to
have many more of these gala affairs.
Nota Francis of the Motor Vehicle
Division has recently taken a position
with the Unemployment Compensation
Commission.
Wm. M. Burns, a new member, of
the Liquor Commission is doing a
mighty fine job of signing up mem
ber^ in his department. Mr. Burns is
responsible for about 50 of pur new
members.
There was quite a bit of excitement
for the employees on the main floor of
the Oregon Bldg. Seems the skylight
gave way after a hard rainstorm and
the office flooded over. Advise the
girls to-get themselves a boat and some
oars.
LIBRARY BUILDING CHAPTER 23
Now that our Library Building Chap
ter is meeting in the evening, we have
had more time to relax and enjoy our
meetings and to get acquainted. Many
of our members, however, have not had
an opportunity to meet the members
of other chapters. We will be glad to
have guests from other departments
come to our meetings on the first Fri
day following the fifth of each month.
Entertainment and Refreshment Com
mittees have been appointed for each
month until the end of the year, thus
assuring something special in addition
to our business-meetings'.
For our June meeting, motion pic
tures were borrowed from the Game
Commission. Especially interesting was
the reel showing7 the salmon fishing at
Celilo Falls on the Columbia. Most of
us didn’t realize that Oregon salmon
are so large they have to be knocked
out with clubs, while you hope they
don’t get you first!
Mr. C. F. Feike, Acting Director of
Vocational Rehabilitation, spoke at our
July meeting. He told us about many,
of the interesting highlights and activi
ties of the very fascinating field of vo--
cational rehabilitation. We like this idea
of finding out about the activities of
various departments and will probably
carry out this very good beginning
with later talks about other depart
ments.’ ^
Dr. Vern Bain of the Education De
partment has taken over the’ duties of
president of our chapter. Winston Pur-
vine, formerly holding that office, has
been spending most of his time away
on field trips. Thus he felt it was ne
cessary for him to turn over his duties
to "a more resident president,”, as he
expressed it,
