remain in Seattle for some time and he
and his wife, Alice, have found a com­
fortable apartment.
Major Roy W. Remington was re­
cently assigned as Military Governor
over five small German towns. Roy
says acting as provost and judge is in­
teresting but also a headache. He has
been overseas for the past two years
and informs us that, "the more I see of
the rest of the world the better I like
Salem, Oregon.’^;’
P. M. Sherwood, C.M. 1/c, after
about 32 months with the CB’s was a
welcome visitor at the Highway Offices
where he called on old friends. He was
stationed at Pearl Harbor on the con­
struction of camps, highways, railroads,
airports and general engineering. Mr.
Sherwood was formerly employed on
Highway Location w ith Jack Phelps
and later with Ed Morelock.

contributed $9,000. For the last two
items the federal government matched
w ith $18,600. A special additional
amount was obtained from the federal
government to cover some additional
case costs.
It is estimated that 32 of every 1000
residents of Oregon are disabled, mak­
ing a total of 44,800 permanently dis­
abled persons in this state. Three of
every 1000 persons are eligible for re­
habilitation, totaling 4,200 now eligi­
ble. W ith new injuries averaging 1 of
each 5000 persons, new cases each year
are about 560. When a person has been
fully trained, when his or her work is
satisfactory, and when given permanent
placement, a closure is signed. Last year
303 closures were signed, in Oregon,
indicating that many disabled persons
were made economically self-sufficient,
productive members of society.
