weary battle, the field emerged victor,
but not without a bitter struggle. Ye
scribe would guess that the liniment
trade made a big sale the next day or so!
When the tumult and shouting at the
ball game died down, races for the kid­
dies, baseball throwing for the ladies
and other festivities common to all pic­
nics,. were carried on. The kids showed
a lot of speed, considering the amount
of food and ice cream they had con­
sumed—and boy, why didn’t some of
those ladies sign up for the ball teams?
Many employees also took full advan­
tage of the swimming pool, and from
the squeals and yells from that vicinity,
must have had a wonderful time.
Along about 6 p.m., the weary but
happy 300 commenced to climb aboard
their chariots and head for home. All in
all the picnic was a glorious success;

LA GRANDE CHAPTER No. 4
The La Grande Chapter held a Pot
Luck Picnic on July 15 th at Emigrant
Springs State Park near Meacham. The
Round-Up» Chapter at Pendleton was
invited to co-operate by bringing re­
freshments. They turned out in force
with their baseball, horseshoe pitchers
and mumble-peg teams.
All State Employees were invited
wether or not they were members of
the Association.
The committee in charge of arrange­
ments were: J. K. Campbell (chair­
man) , Joe Sellers, Noel Klitz, Charles
Erbe, Ed Aronson, August Moser, Ed
Chidsey and Glenn Tetrick.
The regular meeting of the Associa­
tion was held at 8 p.m. on June 8, 1945.
Raymond Hayes’ name was drawn for
the kitty, but he was not present so
