Gallon Club M embers
We arenx thinking of those with an
unquenchable thirst, or of those who
might have a gallon of one kind of bev
erage or another cached away in the
cellar. But we have in mind, those, who
a few years ago, answered the appeal of
The American Red Cross, by contri
buting a pint of blood in anticipation
that it would save the life of a wounded
serviceman.
These blood donors, after giving the
first; pint, found that it was so easy,
costing nothing as most donations are
considered, merely sacrificing a little
time from their jobs, which their em
ployers gladly arranged, that they eag
erly looked forward to the time when
they would be permitted nto offer an
other pint.
With this loyal humanitarian desire
in their hearts, they kept on with their
donations and now each has* Contributed
a Gallon.
LET’S GO, STATE EMPLOYEES.
We need more Gallon Club members.
Remember it doesn’t cost anything. A
pint invested pays LIFE dividends. We
know of several instances where those
having High Blood Pressure, have had
this condition greatly reduced after
making a few donations. So it is not
only a gesture o f loyalty but also an
aid to one’s health.
We have ebmpiled a list of State
Employees who have become members
of this coveted Qlub, which no doubt is
incomplete. It is rather difficult to ob
tain the names of all members due to
the fact that, they, are scattered through
out the state, so if any of you OSE A
members know of a State Employee
who has made eight or more donations,
send the Employee’s name and the num
ber of donations, to Lowell E. Shinn,
2145 Chemeketa, Salem, Oregon, and
they will appear in the following issue
of "The Oregon State Employee.”

The Japanese boy i<rained to go to
a place, stay there, fight and die. We
train our men to go to a place, to fight,
to win and to live. I can assure you, it
is a better theory.
