Liquor Control members at Redmen’s
Hall on the merits. of both bills, at the
invitation'of Chapter 17, which resulted
in quite a number of new members who
are being welcomed into the fold. There
were also a number of state employees
from other departments in attendance;

Mr. David C. Bryant, a former pre­
sident of Chapter "17, O.S.E.A., who
has been away for some time, has been
welcomed back to the P.U.C. Portland
office, and has been appointed Chair­
man of the Membership Committee for
Chapter 17 by our President, Mr. Al
French. .
Foster Meyers, examiner for the Op­
erators Division, at the East Side office
of the Secretary of State, has been
spending two weeks at home with his
family. He was really quite ill for a
few days with the mumps.

CAPITAL CHAPTER No? 19
As Capital Chapter No. 19 was born
in thè midst of the recent Legislative
battle to attain our objectives, most of
its energy lias to date been concentrated
in that direction.
However,I after Willamette Chapter
No. .21 entertained us on February 13 th
with horse play and refreshments, both
high class, we reached a sufficient state
of social consciousness to return the
favor at our regular .meeting held April
9 th and were proud of the way our
ladies acted as-hostesses.The highlight
of the evening was the appearance of
State President I. A. DeFrance, who
ably answered multitudinous questions
Oh retirement, and civil service, not­
withstanding he had ju?t passed through
the trying ordeal of fatherhood.
We are now in the midst of a mem­
bership contest between the male and
female members w r i t h e losers stuck
for a dinner. We have already breached
the walls of the State Land Board and
expect to take several other beach-
