McGreer has been in the service three
years and has seen action in the Medi­
terranean, Italy and France.
Roy L. Simpson informs us that his
brother, Pvt. J. P?-Simpson» who is
stationed in the Philippines, is recover f
ing from wounds received during com­
bat in Luzon. Pvt. Simpson has been
awarded the Purple Heart.
Dick Davidson, Phc. 3 /c , worked on
oiling Crew No. 4 as a truck driver
prior to his induction in the summer
of 1943. He received his éarly training
at Farragut, Idaho and San Diego,
Calif. He is now in a hospital in New
Guinea and expects to be there for some
time and would appreciate, letters from
all who know him..
Earl L. Briven, S i w o r k e d on Oil­
ing Crew No. 4 as Oiler Driver in the
summer of 1943 and also worked on
Kirkham’s Extra Gang prior to his in­
duction in ApriljF/1944. He received
his training at San Diego, Calif., and
went overseas in the summer' of 1944.
He is serving as an armed guard for the
Merchant Marines.
T /Sgt. Lawrence Claypool, formerly
of the . Prineville crew, is on his way
home from the South Pacific after com­
pleting the required number of mis­
sions as radioman on one of Uncle
Sam’s big bombers where he has had
some very exciting experiences and nar­
row escapes. These ex-Highway men do
get around, don’t they?
Major William J. Bromley, son of the
District Superintendent at Grants Pass
has been overseas for two years and is
«attached to Ordnance Headquarters. He
was in command of troops prior to his
promotion.
Pvt. William M. Jonesj son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. M. Jones, patrol man at
Glendale Junction, enlisted in Novem­
ber 1942, in the Paratroops. He was
among the first Americans to land in
Normandy on D-Day and on Holland.
In Holland he was wounded twice. At
the battle of Bastongne he had his feet
frozen. After recovering in a hospital
in England, he was transferred to the
air corps. Bill wears the Purple Heart,
Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantry
Badge and the Presidential Unit Cita­
tion.
Wm. J. Holcomb, W .T .l/c , was
home on leave in April. Fie is being
transferred to a Tex. school at Phila-
