a. An employee who leaves the employ
of a covered agency and who has con
tributed to the retirement system for
less than 10 years will receive back his
Contributions and interest.
b. An employee who leaves; the em
ploy of a covered agency and who has
contributed to the retirement system
for more than 10 years will receive at
the earliest retirement age a retirement
a l l o w a n c e actuarially determined
to equal his Contributions matched by
those of the employing agency.

I T. Within one year after the termi-
nation of the present war but not before
July 1, 1947, all ordinary employees'65
ÿears of age oT over and all police offi
cers and firemen over 60 will be retired
unless the governing board requests that
the employee continue working.
2. Elective officials and appointed
officers with definite terms who elect
to become members of the retirement
system may finish out their terms of
office before retiring and school teach
ers not subject to the teachers tenure
law may finish out the academic year
before retiring.
3. After June 30, 1951, ordinary em
ployees who reach the age of 60 and
police officers and firemen who reach
the age of, 5 5 may request retirement
at a reduced retirement allowance ac
tuarially based upon their contributions
and the contributions of the employing
agency.

Voters in two states, Georgia and
Missouri, will have opportunity during
the year t,o pass on revised state cdnsti-
tutions which incorporate merit system
provisions. Both constitutions, if adopt
ed, will result in the establishment of
merit system in their respective state
services.
