Boatswain Mate First Class, and in a
recent letter gave a resume of a recent
experience and I quote, "W e have been
having a few nocturnal disturbances of
late here now that we are getting used
to being comfortable in our new home.
I’m wearing a few handitapes on my
hands and one knee from allowing my
chin to lead my feet a little too far
trying to get out of the way o f flying
things. I had a rude7 awakening the other
night from a sound slumber, p u t on
'm y shoes and casually went outside to
determine how serious it was, when a,
Nip dives overhead with guns chatterr
ing. By that time our installations were
kicking out tracers from several direc
tions. T hat wias the end of my hesita-
tion, « a bet I cut a mean figure ru n
ning with shoes untied, cigarettes and
matches in one hand and helmet in the
other; Anyway I didn’t qu»ite clear a
coral wall hurdle and hit on my chin
but the boys say my feet never stopped
kicking sparks.— One thing I\am sure
of and that is that it will never be my
plight to be paralyzed w ith fright. My
feet just wdn’t stand for it.”
