We were honored with the présence
of Mr. Forrest Stewart at our November
meeting. He gave a very enlightening
and encouraging talk on the activities
of the association. A number of Doug­
las County employees were there; they,
have formed an association of their oWn,
but would like very much to be a part
of our association.
Mr. Erwin Clark accompanied Mr.
Stewart to Coos Bay where, they carried
the banner for our cause.
Scotty Watson is having an awful
time chewing his ”spinach”. He says he
feels just like a babe, but just wait until
he gets his store teeth and he w ilt show
anybody, how to ch.ew it. He is afraid
that his store teeth will chatter when hé
talks so he up and bought a house on
wheels so that he can be by himself.
Who is going to keep house?
Mr. P. P. Whitmore and Mr. George
Wood have been transferred to Rose­
burg for the winter, it’s-.npt a bad place
to be in winter; they tell me it gets
pretty cold in Eugene at times.
The fishing round Myrtle Creek is
not good enough for Geo. Baker, Kirk
Lawrence and Elie Dubell so they have
gone to Elkton for a month or so. Good
fishing fellows, and bring back the big
ones;, but don’t forget that the people
pver there would like to have that road
straightened out.
CHAPTER No. 5—ROSE CITY
A t the last regular meeting of Rose
City chapter, held on January 12, elec­
tion of officers for the coming year was
held, with the following officers elect­
ed: President, Ivan Dakin, incumbent;
Vice President, J. Claude Moore; Sec­
retary-Treasurer, C. D. Haynes, incum­
bent.
Mr. Dakin and Mr. Haynes have
acted as president and secretary-treasur-
er, respectively, for the past year and
were elected unanimously for the com­
ing ye^r. Edwin , Johnson was vice pre­
sident during 1944 and as he is expect­
ing a call to arms at any time now, he
declined to run for office again. Ed is
