CHAPTER NEWS
TWO NEW CHAPTERS
A hearty welcome to our two new
chapters, Roundup Chapter No. 24 and
Forestry Chapter No. 25.
Roundup Chapter No. 24 was or
ganized by Eastern Oregon State em
ployees located in the district west of
Blue Mountains with headquarters in
Pendleton. The employees in this chap
ter represent the State Hospital, the
State Highway Department and other
departments. Several of the members
formerly,, were niembers of thé La-
Grande Chapter, but due to the distance
between LaGrande and Pendleton de
cided to join the new chapter. |
Officers elected at the first meeting
were: Clay Cornett, president and Ho
mer P. Rogers, secretary-treasurer.
Forestry Chapter No. 25 was organ
ized' by the employees in the State For
estry Department with headquarters at
Salem.

first meeting on January 11 were:
Lynn F. Cronemiller, president; Mars

success.
SALEM CHAPTER No. 1
Our first regular meeting of the new
year was attended by some fifty-odd
members and visitors who enjoyed the
briefness ; of the business session and
the longevity of the entertainment fea
tures which followed.
The business session was directed by
our new president, Ermal Owens, who
conducted himself with decorum be
fitting a gentleman and who conducted
the meeting with dispatch creditable to
an experienced politician. Motions were
made, seconded, and passed with such
speed that no time was wasted by tak
ing a vote. We look forward to more
snappy ’business sessions, and venture
the thought that the members should
remove the cobwebs and plan to take a
more active part in open meeting dis
cussion of Chapter affairs. Nothing
like a give and take exchange of ex
pressed ideas to exhilirate the spirit and
push up the blood pressure!
The kitty”, (bait to stimulate at
tendance)' was won, during, the' mSet-
ing, by our Scotch friend J. W. McCal
lister, and it is said he now- favors hold
ing meetings weekly. We were gra
ciously honored by the presence of
three of our women members and it?
is hoped that more of the fair ones
will? thus feel encouraged to join our
Chapter and attend , our meetings.
The dance fever runs high in this,
Chapter and we, talk of holding a se
quel to'the big blowout of last Decem
ber, maybe by* the latter part of Feb
ruary. A few minor arrangements are
yet to be made however, including
methods of paying »the bill.
Just'recently,-Floyd Query, our able
chairman of the membership committee
and District Director, in cooperation
with the State Association, has sent out
a goodly number of personal letters
inviting non-member State employees
to join up with us. It. is heartening to
see such a well-planned membership
drive under way, and we look forward
to a fàvorablè response.
Let’s get together and keep working
■fo put 'this organization t>ver in a big
way. Come to the meetings regularly
and get acquainted with what is go
ing on. Big things are in the offing
and we all want to have a hand in their
accomplishment.
CHAPTER No. 2—ROSEBURG
Our president was very much put
out because Roseburg Chapter was not
mentioned in the chapter news in the
