and their wives enjoyed the hospitaity

home, where ice cream, cake and coffee
was served.
CRATER LAKE CHAPTER No. 16
At our annual election Paul Robert
son was elected president, Carl Con
verse, Vice President, and Clyde A.
Holcomb, Secretary-Treasurer. Our
president was also our delegate from
Chapter 16, District 3.
It seems this retirement plan is grow
ing. The City of Grants Pass has voted
for Civil Service.
At our last meeting in Medford, No
vember 27 we had a large turn out and
enjoyed a visit from Mr. Stewart, Ex
ecutive Secretary, who gave us a nice
talk on our retirement plan and gen
eral news of other chapters.
This chapter would be happy to have
members of other chapters visit us at
any time.
CAPITOL CHAPTER No. 19
Since its inception our comparatively
new Capitol Chapter No. 19, has held
three organizational meetings and one
regular meeting, the latter on Novem
ber 13 th, second Monday in the month,
which has been set as the regular meet
ing date.
At this meeting the officers who had
been elected for 1944 were reelected for
1945, they having been in office a
very short time. They are Paul Gem
mell, President; Earl Boyle, Vice- Presi
dent, and Garland Hollowell, Secretary-
Treasurer.
The Chapter expects to take out a
membership in the Salem Chamber of
Commerce and thus secure the privi
lege of meeting in that organizations
quarters. The membership, which is
drawn from the offices located in the
Statehouse, now stands at fifty-five.
WILLAMETTE CHAPTER No. 21
The Willamette Chapter No. 21 in
Salem, Oregon, is now under way with
flying colors.
The officers consist of Stanley Mor
ris, President; Arthur W. Fogelsong,
Vice-President; Katherine Krafsic, Sec
retary; and Thelma Barnett, Treasurer.
A meeting was held Friday evening,
November 24, 1944, at which time a
Constitution and By-Laws was adopted,
with the following committees ap
pointed:
Membership Committee
Publicity Committee
Program and Entertainment Com-
• mittee
Grievance Committee
Our meeting night has been set as
the second Tuesday in every month,
subject, of course, to change.
Forrest Stewart, Executive Secretry,
was our guest at our meeting.
So far our membership consists of
5 5 employees of the Public Utilities
Commission of Oregon.
OREGON CHAPTER No. 22
Organization of Oregon chapter was
completed in November with signed
membership cards from 73 employees
of the State Unemployment Compen
sation Commission. This represents
nearly 90 per cent of the Salem central
office employees.
Although the commission already
has a well-regulated merit system, em
ployees are aware of the possibility of
wider careers in public service under a
state civil service system that would
cover all departments. The new chap
ter also is interested in the State Em
ployees’ Association for an old age re
tirement plan that would provide rea
sonable pensions for those past .6 5 years.
Possibility of the extension of the Old
Age and Survivors’ Insurance to state
employees to supplement retirement al
lowances also is being investigated by
the new chapter.
