ond childhood and took a fling at the
dipper. Frank was a little slow getting
his color back, but looks hale and
hearty now. Bertha McGinnis, truck
driver on Roy Sellers’ paving crew,
hobbled to the picnic on crutches, due
to a broken foot. More spirit like this
would help our Chapter.
Chief Operator L. W. Gabriel of
Interstate Bridge, one of our regular
attendents has been on the sick list for
the past several weeks, and we hope he
will be able to get back to work soon.
Dakins’ new paving plant is set up
at Forest Grove and Roy Sellers’ plant
is at Barlow. Shortage of labor con
tinues to haunt Dakins’ crew, but he
manages to keep operating. Sellers’ wo

again this year, hats off to the ladies.
To deer hunters short of gasoline, it
has been told that the flagwomen on
Dakins’ crew wore side arms while
working on the Wilson River highway,
to chase the deer and wolves away.
After helping us clean up the joint,
Bert Mann was missed around the of
fice while working on the upper Col
umbia. Once again we are enjoying

by himself. As far as we can learn this

several members and is continually

Glad to know they are O.K. and en

An orchid to the section men in the

time to regularly attend our meetings.
Vaughn Perkins’ bridge crew have
completed greasing cables on the Inter
state bridge. Quite a difficult task for
night work.
Earl Stream, formerly of La Grande,
Forrest Stewart, Executive Secretary,
and A. J. Ford, D.M.S. of Portland,
are going hunting the 13 th of October,
around La Grande. Odd isn’t it, but it
coincides with the Chapter meeting at
La Grande on the same date. I am sure
