CHAPTER No. 6—EUGENE
Officers for the coming year were
elected. The members by unanimous
vote, reelected the officers who served
so well last year. (Our By-laws limit
this privilege to two consecutive years.)
Much has been accomplished during
the past year, under the able leadership
of President Toole. The membership has
been more than doubled; a book of By
laws was published; a delegate and
other representatives attended the Gen
eral Council meeting at Salem, and re
solutions were presented which fostered
programs for the benefit of the mem
bers; assisted one of our member’s fam
ily after he was accidentally killed;
set up a working fund for Welfare pur
poses; held a picnic last summer and
two dances this past winter; and the
fellow workers have become better ac
quainted at the meetings which have
been interesting and worth while.
These things have been accomplished
because our Officers and all members
have taken a personal active interest in
the chapter.
Frank Hall has transferred his mem
bership from the Roseburg Chapter to
this chapter.
Other new members are: Geo. E.
Delyria, Henry Stelljes, Willie B.
Weeks, Robert G. Cesney and B. H.
Neel.
Virgil Brown has joined the Army.
Sam Taylor has transferred to Alkali
Lake and will serve as Section Foreman.
A. O. Mclrvin has gone to Ashland.
Ernie Umphlette and his crew are in
charge of the construction job between
Halsey and Harrisburg.

CHAPTER No. 8—ASTORIA
The last meeting of this Chapter was
held at Mist, and a large attendance
for the first time really learned why we
now belong to this Association. This
meeting was attended by our President,
A. J. Ford, who explained the differ
ence between our former asso'ciation
with the American Federation of State,
County and Municipal Employees, and
what we could expect from our present
association. All those attending were
satisfied with the explanation offered
by President Ford, and gave rise to an
enthusiastic boom for increased mem
bership. It will not be long before we
are 100% organized and we challenge
other branches of the State Employees
to keep pace with our stride.
The annual election was held July 12,
at which time all former officers were
elected with the exception of that of
Secretary - Treasurer. At this time
George A. Bambrick, Lewis & Clark
Bridge Route No. 3, Astoria, was se
lected for the position.
CHAPTER No. 9—THE DALLES
Members of The Dalles Chapter wish
to express their appreciation for the
excellent work done by the president,
board of directors and all members
connected with the putting into effect
Resolution No. 3, sponsored by this
chapter, and as adopted by the Gener
al Council at their last regular session.
Our executive secretary will help a lot
in making our organization grow.
Our last meeting was held on June
17th instead of. the regular date. Twen
ty members were in attendance. Due to
