Park, who were responsible, respectively, for the first efforts to conquer tubercu­ losis and for the discovery of diphtheria antitoxin; of Marion Dorset, chemist in the Federal Bureau of Animal Industry, who discovered a method of preventing hog cholera which led to the finding that yellow fever, smallpox, and measles are caused by viruses, and whose work has been ranked with that of Pasteur and Koch; of another employee of the Bureau of Animal Industry for 46 years, John B. Mohler, who saved a good part of the nation’s livestock when he de­ tected the existence of various diseases in an importation of Zebu cattle quar­ antined in New York.
