had the time, the opportunity, nor the
means to contact the sources of infor

CHAPTER No. 2—ROSEBURG
The last meeting of June 9th, en
joyed full attendance. Many topics
were discussed and debated upon. The
Chapter voted to carry as a paid-up
member, any member of the Chapter
while sick or injured.
Plans are under way for holding an
annual picnic soon.

CHAPTER No. 3—BEND
N ot only the members of this Chap
ter but all other members of the State
Highway Department of Oregon have
learned with regret and sorrow of the
accident that claimed the lives of three
members of Oiling Crew No. 4. After
doing a good job on the Klamath Falls-
Lakeview Highway, June 6, these men
lost their lives when an automobile in
which they were riding overturned on
a soft shoulder. Harvey Denham, an
other occupant, of the car escaped with
injuries. The dead are Oscar Lucas,
driver of the car; Ralph Turner and
William Reed. The accident was quite
a shock to the Brothers crew as two
sons of Mr. Oscar Lucas are employed
on that crew. They are Forrest F. Lu
cas and Owen T. Lucas. Mrs. Oscar
Lucas has taken up residence with her
two sons at Brothers.

its members. It was pointed out at the
meeting that Ken had just married
Nora Dobbs and was, at the moment,
leaving Prineville on a honeymoon.
Seriously, all of their many friends
wish them all the happiness in the
world.
Charley Clifton says that riding herd
on an oil crew has become such a snap
that he did not know what to do with
his idle moments so he and Mrs. Clif
ton bought a confectionery in Red
mond. Make mine root beer Charley.
When Harry Melton left Linn
Koon’s district he brought most of
Linn’s equipment and help, which is as
it should be, but why he brought the
weather too is the $64 question. It has
rained every other day since he has
been here.
A rt Dejoode claims a record—he
hired a lad of 80 the other day—who
can beat that?
Cap Seeley reports that The Dalles
Chapter is in the throes of their an
nual election of officers with no one
