Election Time Approaching
By: Walt Klamath, Election Board
That time of the year is coming
up again.
So enjoy yourself, it
is later then you think.
| dp not see anyone falling over
themselves trying to get on the
Election
Board.
All
the
commotion and complaining last
year I thought that many would
be here to improve the situation
or at least help out some way.
It is much easier to complain.
Yep, I can relate to this.
It seems that people think that
this Election process lasts for a
month or two then its all over.
It doesn't work that way.
It
goes twelve months a year. All
year long there are applications
coming in, all year long there
are inquiries coming in about
what is happening.
Then as
now, the whole
darn process
starts over again.
Now
is
the
time
to
start
planning
about
running
for
council. There will be a voters
pamphlet again this year.
It
was very popular. We had many
calls, and compliments about
the information in the pamphlet.
There was not one negative call
about the pamphlet, except that
it should have happened long
time ago.
do not compliment the person
too well when copied to black
and white.
Again, this year there will be 3
positions to be filled.
Mike
Darcy,
Rosemary
Landis and
Lilly Butler.
Sharon and myself did set a
goal, when we came on. That
was to
get
1000
members
registered to vote in the Tribal
Elections. We have reached that
goal. There are 1011 signature
cards on file at this time.
With
the
change
in
blood
quantum there will probably be
a surge in registration.
Maybe
the new enrollees will fire up
the oldtimers. It could happen.
