TO THE EDITOR:
As a tribal member, I find it interesting
how the Tribal Council works. When
it comes to Tribal members concerns,
the Tribal Council just sits and listens
but nothing is done. When it comes to
job openings, for instance the Area
Offices' supervisors, the Tribal Council
just sits and passes it without any
questions. Why are there so many
problems in the Portland Area office?
There are so many whys but no
answers. I did not vote for the Tribal
Council to get paid, because we don't
have a lot o f "timber dollars", now-
look what has happened. They go and
spend a lot o f "timber dollars" for
instances:
$150.00 a plate for
someone out side o f our district and
two: a fancy dinner for the BIA (a
long list o f certain VIP's o f the Tribe
that were paid for) and to my
knowledge the Tribe and the BIA don't
have that good o f relationship. Tribal
Council just sits and OK's everything
without discussions. Do we need so
many people hired? Are there some
that are not doing their work? Are
they looking for ways to get rid o f
money? What about help for our tribal
members that are low incomer I'm not
talking GA, I'm talking about helping
out Tribal members that are in need o f
emergency help. Where is the money
coming from for the 3 area offices
supervisors?
Everyone sits and judges one another
and everyone has their own beliefs. (I
have received quite a few phone calls)
But when it comes to morals, I feel
that "out o f norm" should be kept at
home and not exposed at work.
There's a time and place f i r
relationships. Siletz is a small tow“i
and every one knows everyones
business. It is not going to change.

To Tribal Members:
quantum for those th a t
serve on Tribal Council.
Once again, we are faced
w ith voting on the Blocd
degree.
L ast time the people voted,
this w as defeated.
I do n ot think th a t the
Tribal Council realizes how
much money is needed to p u t
additional people on our roll
with the high cost of Medical
and Education.
Happy Birthday Tracy
Philbrook. Hope you
have a wonderful
birthday! You are truly
a special, beautiful, and
sweet niece, and an
equally wonderful
mother. Thank you fo r
making my life easier. I
love you,
Aunt Patty
There are Tribal Members
on the w aiting list th a t can
not be helped because there
are no funds.
We have
Tribal Members th a t live
ap art from our so called
boundaries th a t can n ot be
helped and now Tribal
Council w ants to add more.
Is this personal, for family?

This w as defeated the la st
time the people voted and
can be defeated again.
The question is “Is the Tribe
really financially prepared, if
so why can’t we help our
people now?”.
Vote no, so our people who
can n ot get help, be helped.
Those of you who are on a
w aiting list, those of you
who were told th a t there is
no money available and
those of you th a t live outside
the boundaries, do you really
think th a t you are going to
move up the list? I doubt it.
The is n o t the rig h t time to
lower the blood degree. The
Tribe is not financially
p re p are d . I f we can n o t help
Miohaol
Shouldn’t our people be first?
Happy B irthday,
Mama, / love you/
(this was my idea)

Why can’t our Tribe work
with other Tribes, see if they
will pay the cost for Medical,
Education and o ther benefits
th a t we have in common and
th an reim burse them .
We have a chance now to
change the Tribal Council.
It is time to vote and p ut in
new leaders.

Letter to the Editor
To the Membership:
I failed to get my background published
in the voters pamphlet. I will give you a brief
description of my background and experience.
I'm the youngest of eight children of
Alfred and Maude Lane. I'm married to Don
and have three children, Tim, Troy and Quanna
and four grandchildren.
I have twenty years experience working
for the Social Security Administration. I'm
currently an Operations Supervisor in Salem.
I've actively promoted tribal sovereignty
as it affects all governmental functions of our
tribe. I've traveled extensively on behalf of our
tribe to promote tribal interests that include:
* Self-determination through Self-Governance
as Chief negotiator.
* Economic development through Gaming and
other ventures.
* Tribal culture and language development.
More cultural activities have occurred with
greater participation than any other time since
restoration. Our plank house is being built and
our language program is nearing completion.
* Controls on spending - óur budget ordinance
is till limited to 21/2% growth annually.
Reserve fundó have greatly appreciated.
* Health - because of die success of. our Clinic
and Self-Governance some health care services
will be provk ed to members outside of the
service área.
* Grants and Contracts - We receive continuous
funding from HUD, EDA, ANA, Dept. of Labor,
Agriculture, Etc.
*Elders Program - I'm personally committed to
enhanced services. Revenues are budgeted
specifically for their use and benefit, the tribes
committed to do more with future revenues.
I can proudly say I've lobbied and
promoted our tribe to the best of my ability
whenever I've had the opportunity. It requires
considerable energy, flexibility, understanding,
diligence and a lot of family and tribal sunnort.
I encourage you to vote for the
candidate or your choice and to attend the
candidates fairs.
Sincerely,
Dee Pigsley
