Housing Report
By: Connie Hoffman, SIHA Director
An important note to those who have
applications on file at our office for any of our
Housing Programs—Mutual Help, Section 8
Vouchers, or the new apartments. Please keep
us updated with changes in address, family
size, and income. Periodically we send out
notices that REQUIRE your response. Be sure
that you respond by the date listed in order to
keep your application on the active waiting list.
Applicants are selected for housing
according to a system of federal preferences.
If you are claiming a preference, you must
submit documentation of the preference that
you are claiming.
Our application packets
contain complete inform ation about the
preferences and the documentation that is
required. Please read it carefully and ask for
help from either Angela Benedict or myself, if
you are not sure how to complete the
preference form.
We're pleased to report that things are
falling in place for the start of our apartments
this summer. We hope to be ready to award the
construction contract by late August.
We're planning a series of summer
activities for the youngsters who live in the
Silatchee Park housing. LeiLani Cordova, our
Housing Counselor, will be conducting these
activities, with assistance from Oregon State
University's
Extension Service, whom we
contract with to do our counseling program.
