To the Tribal Membership:
"Solutions"
Hopefully, this article will
be about solutions.
We are
aware, especially in light of the
General Council Meeting, the
Tribe has problem areas.
I
have no objection to these
problems being identified, or
talked about. My objection is
the method in which these
problems are used to try and
spread discontent, disunity, and
m is-inform ation w ithin and
outside the Tribe. There is an
old saying, and it is, "If I'm not
part of the solution, then I'm
part of the problem". Which
means that it's very easy to
see problems, talk about them,
and blame people for them, and
blame people for them, but it's
very hard to find solutions for
those problems. Our problems
are being used to discredit,
undermine, and as a vehicle in
smearing each other.
The
solution of these problems is
secondary to such individuals,
they see an opportunity to get
up and be recognized, in voice
and print.
If these problems
are a true concern, then
solutions would be offered
instead of blame. There is a big
difference between, "How can I
help?", and "Somebody should
do something". If, as a Tribal
Member, I approached Tribal
Council with a problem, have a
proposed solution, and evidence
that the solution will work, I
am 99% sure I will be heard.
On the other hand, if Council is
confronted and told that what
they have done is wrong, the
way they have done it is
wrong, and what they are
planning to do is wrong, the
motive is not problem solving,
but problem blaming.
The
solution to problems takes
cooperation and commitment. It

involvement. This election 320
members voted, out of 1500
voters.
If per capita were
involved, all 1500 members
would vote.
Much more is
involved than per capita though,
it is a chance to build a nation
and future for ourselves and
our children. It can be done if
we say "How can I help?",
instead of "It's all wrong".
There is one last quote that
would benefit us, if applied, and
that is "P rinciples Before
Personalities"
To the Editor:
It is my opinion on this
gaming Casino, that it should be
built here in Lincoln County. I
do not believe that this locality
is so far removed from
civilization that people will not
come here. If the stakes are
high, people w ill come to
gamble. Hotel/Motel Business
will see to it that there are
accommodations. The State will
certainly improve the roads to
bring people.
If the enterprise will
put 600 plus people to work,
lets keep the money in our own
back yard. It probably would be
more welcome in Lincoln
County then anywhere else.
Myself, I would not
even cross the street to
gam ble,
unless
I
was
guaranteed to win, then I would
question the motive.

Cindy Belgarde and Gordon
Williams proudly announce the
birth of their son, Tyler Ab
Belgarde. Tyler was born at
Pacific Communities Hospital in
Newport on March 13, 1992.
Tyler weighed 6 pounds and 1
ounce and was 19 inches long.
The proud grandparents are
Gerald Belgarde of Siletz and
Bonnie Rollings of Salem.
